Doris Ferguson Gillespie

Mrs. Doris Ferguson Gillespie, 79 of Gainesville died Tuesday August 16, 2016.

Born in Banks County, Mrs. Gillespie had lived in Hall County for most of her life.  She was the daughter of the late Arvil and Cleo Armour Ferguson.  Mrs. Gillespie was retired from the Hall County Board of Education with 23 years of service, with 18 of those years at Riverbend Elementary School.  After retirement she worked 9 more years at the Hall County Courthouse in the Deed Room.  Mrs. Gillespie was a member of New Haven Church.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Shelia Gillespie, Pendergrass; daughters and sons-in-law; Jeanne and Mark Wolf, Marietta; Stacey and Daren Hicks, Flowery Branch; grandchildren, Matthew and Nadine Gillespie; Jacob Gillespie; Austin and Amber Hicks; Lauren Hicks; Brian and Laura Wolf; great grandchildren; Eliza Gillespie and Adelyn Wolf; brothers and sisters-in-law, Junior and Pat Ferguson, Gainesville; Randy and Wanda Ferguson, Chicopee; sister, Bonnie Terrell, Gainesville; sisters-in-law, Jan Ferguson, McDonough, Miriam Shore, Alto and Catherine Alton, Gainesville.  A number of nieces and nephews also survive.

Mrs. Gillespie is preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 34 years, Rudy Gillespie, sisters, Bernice Morris and Marjorie Pierce and brothers, Gene Ferguson and Harold Ferguson.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday August 19, 2016 at the New Haven Church.  Rev. Wayne Hicks and Rev. Daren Hicks will officiate.  Interment will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery with Rev. Bobby Griffin officiating.  The family will receive friends at Little & Davenport Funeral Home Thursday August 18, 2016 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m.
