Dorothy Spikes Garner

                Dorothy Spikes Garner, age 82 of Gainesville, passed away Sunday, August 7, 2016 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

                Memorial services are scheduled for Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at 11:00am in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with Reverend David McClure officiating. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 9, 2016 from 6:00-8:00pm at the funeral home.

                Mrs. Garner was born January 1, 1934 in Manchester, Georgia to Lewis Marion Spikes and Hortense Dickinson Spikes. In her early teaching career, she taught at LaGrange High School where she met her future husband, Aubrey. She retired from Gainesville City Schools as an elementary school Teacher and was of the Presbyterian faith. Mrs. Garner was preceded in death by two infant sons and her sister, Frances Spikes Teaver.

                Mrs. Garner is survived by her husband of 55 years, Aubrey Garner, Sr. of Gainesville; daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Lennie Leneski of Gainesville; son and daughter-in-law, Aubrey “Lee” and Holly Garner of Fayetteville. GA; grandchildren, Elizabeth Leneski, Anna Leneski, Will Garner and Olivia Garner.
