Bessie Leona Bassham

Miss Bessie Leona Bassham, age 93 of 124 Deer Trail Road, Martin, Georgia passed away Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at her residence.

A daughter of the late William Ashford and Lizzie Robertson Bassham, she was born October 9, 1922 in Lauderdale County, Alabama having lived most of her life in the Washington, D.C. area and the last year in Georgia.  She was retired from the U.S. Coast Guard and was a member of Tugalo Baptist Church.  She never had children of her own but was loved by her nieces and nephews.

Survivors include a sister, Doris Snyder of Martin, Georgia; nephews, Kenneth Snyder of Martin and Casey Snyder of Gwinnett County; and a number of other nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Saturday, August 6, 2016, 11 O’clock AM at Morrison Funeral Home Chapel, 10865 Hwy 72 West, Cherokee, Alabama with The Reverend Harris Pressley officiating. 

The family will receive at the Morrison Funeral Home in Cherokee, Alabama on Friday.

The family requests that flowers be omitted.  Memorials may be made to Tugalo Baptist Church, P.O. Box 744, Toccoa, Georgia 30577 in memory of Miss Bessie Leona Bassham.

Interment will be in the Barton Cemetery, Cherokee Alabama.
