Lonzo E. Evans

Evans Funeral Home announces the death of Mr. Lonzo E. Evans, age 86 of Bogart, Georgia who entered into rest Friday, July 29, 2016.  Mr. Evans was born in Homer, Georgia a son of the late Fletcher and Elsie Savage Evans, was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War, and was retired from Westinghouse.  In addition to his parents Mr. Evans is preceded by his wife, Peggy Yearwood Evans, sisters, Lacordia, Annie Lois, Ola Mae, Ethel, Viola, Mary, and brothers, Lee, Connie Lee, and Elton.

Survivors include two daughters, Barbra Ann Sharp and her husband Roy of Salt Lake City, Sharon Wilkins and her husband Bobby of Jefferson, three sons, Ronnie Evans and his wife Vicky of Jefferson, Wallace Evans and his wife Terry of Athens, and Jeffrey Evans and his wife Tara of Comer.  Step daughter, Brenda Cobb and her husband Brian, step sons, Doug Howard and his wife Dena of Lexington and Kenny Howard and his wife Shani of Winterville.  Sister, Montine Davis of Jefferson and brother, Loyd Evans of Jefferson.  Eighteen grandchildren and ten great grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, August 2, 2016 from the Chapel of Evans Funeral Home with Pastor Gary Barnes officiating with burial to follow in Evergreen Memorial Park, Athens, Georgia.  Gentlemen honored as pallbearers are Justin Crocker, Kelton Christian, Casey Wilkins, Corey Wilkins, Jacob Howard and Jordan Romero.  The family will receive friends Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at the funeral home 8 – 10 A.M. prior to the service.
