Mrs. Lula Susie Berry Black, age 92, of Dahlonega, GA, passed away Wednesday July 27, 2016 at the Gold City Convalescent Center in Dahlonega, GA.
Mrs. Black was a native and lifelong resident of Lumpkin County. She worked for many years at Gold City Convalescent Center as a dietary aide. She was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Lumpkin County.
Lula was the daughter of the late Samuel and Mary Conner Berry and was also preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Willie Black.
She is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Bill “Buster” and Betty Jean Black, Dahlonega, GA; daughters and son-in-law, Evelyn and Henry Shope, Gainesville, GA, Loretta Black, Dahlonega, GA, and Minnie Lou Westbrook, Dahlonega, GA; brother, Leslie Berry Talking Rock, GA; sister, Thelma Gary, Ellijay, GA; grandchildren, Michael Shope, Jo Jones, Rodney and Christy Black, Buffy and Tommy Smith. 10 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren and a large number of other relatives also survive.
Funeral services for Mrs. Black are scheduled for 4 PM Friday July 29, 2016 at the Banister Funeral Home Chapel in Dahlonega, GA.
Rev. Lyman Caldwell and Rev. Franklin Grant will officiate.
Interment will follow in Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Lumpkin County.
The family will receive friends at Banister Funeral Home in Dahlonega, GA on Thursday July 28, 2016 from 4 PM until 9 PM and again on Friday until service time.
