Julia Wade Powell, age 88 of Lula, passed away Tuesday, July 26, 2016.
Born in Alto, Georgia on April 27, 1928, she was a daughter of the late T.J. and Myrtle Poole Wade. Mrs. Powell was an employee of Carwood Manufacturing for many years and a member of Yonah Congregational Holiness Church. She loved everyone and enjoyed helping others. She especially enjoyed making and giving fried pies to her family and friends. Mrs. Powell is known by her nieces and nephews as “Jubie”. In her spare time she enjoyed flower gardening.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Luther Powell; brother, Oltha L. Wade; sister, Lucille E. Wade; and brother-in-law, Garnett Grier.
Survivors include her sister, Gertrude Grier of Lula; sister and brother-in-law, Joyce and Eugene Franklin of Alto; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Wade of Alto; several special nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 am, Friday July 29, 2016 from the Chapel of McGahee Griffin and Stewart Funeral Home with the Rev. Jeremy Garmon officiating. Interment will follow in the Yonah Congregational Holiness Church Cemetery with Mr. Ronnie Franklin offering the closing prayer.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 pm on Thursday at the funeral home.
