Roger Byron Smith

Evans Funeral Home announces the death of Mr. Roger Byron Smith, age 68 of Buford, Georgia who entered into rest Friday, July 22, 2016.  Mr. Smith was born in Gainesville, Georgia in the Belmont Community, a son to the late Byron and Elizabeth McMillan Smith, was a member of Belmont Baptist Church, a graduate of the University of Georgia with a degree in Business Administration, and was retired from the music and recording industry.

Survivors include a sister, Sara Smith Bell of Jefferson, brother Randall Smith and his wife Diane of Suwanee.  Nephew, Mike Bell and his wife DeAnne of Maysville, niece, Allyson Nessmith and her husband Ben of Statesboro, four grandnephews and three grandnieces.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Sunday, July 24, 2016 from the Belmont Baptist Church with Reverend Bill Compton and Lewis Hudgins officiating with burial to follow in the Belmont Baptist Church Cemetery.  Gentlemen honored as pallbearers are Lewis Hudgins, Steve Smith, Darrel Ivey, Mike Bell, Ben Nessmith, and Jon Smith.  The family will receive friends Saturday, July 23, 2016, 6 – 8 P.M. at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in memory of Mr. Smith to the Belmont Baptist Church Building Fund, 3635 Belmont Highway, Gainesville, Georgia  30507.
