Aaron Todd Poland

Obituary Date: Thursday, July 14, 2016

Mr. Aaron Todd Poland, 45, lost his long well fought battle with brain cancer on Thursday, July 14, 2016 at his home in Toccoa, Georgia.  He was born in Bowling Green, Ohio and lived most of his life in Whitehouse, Ohio.

After graduating from Anthony Wayne High School, Todd was a long-term employee of the Lucas County Sheriff’s Department (Toledo, Ohio) as a Corrections Officer.  Todd was also a Mason at the Wakeman Lodge in Waterville, Ohio.

Todd achieved a black belt in Aikido (Escort and Restrain), loved fishing on Lake Erie and Lake Ontario with his grandpa, dad and uncles.  He was an avid movie goer and enjoyed the Oscar telecast each year sharing his opinion on each award.  Star Wars movies were his all time favorites.  Other favorites of Todd were Blue Grass gospel music, reading and hiking the Smoky Mountains.

Left to cherish his memory are his mother and loving caregiver, Pamela E. Hartbarger of Toccoa; father, David C. Poland(Robin) of Toledo; son, Andrew Poland of Toledo; half-brother, Nick Poland of Toledo; grandfather and role model, Earl Hartbarger(Libby) of Toccoa; aunts, Jan Roby(Jim), Jill Vershum and Susie Tomanski(Donnie); uncle, Keith Poland(Sandy); several cousins and many close friends including Randy and Michael Deck who were like brothers to Todd.

Todd was preceded in death by grandmothers, Esther Smith Hartbarger and Mildred Weile; grandfather, Clifford Poland; aunt, Carol Whelan; and uncle, Brent Poland.

Todd’s family and friends will miss his presence, the knowledge he possessed, his wit and humor he shared.  We will also miss Todd’s tender heart and his sharing his love of the Lord.

Graveside service for Aaron Todd Poland will be on Monday, July 25, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. at Stephens Memorial Gardens with The Reverend Wayne Marcus officiating.  The family will receive friends at Acree-Davis Funeral Home at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, July 25, 2016 until time to leave for the service.  The Stephens County Sheriff’s Department will serve as Honorary Escort.
