Martha Louise Mote Ferguson

Martha Louise Mote Ferguson, age 89, of Cornelia, Georgia, went to be with The Lord on Saturday, July 9, 2016.

Mrs. Ferguson was born on July 22, 1926 in Demorest, Georgia. She was preceded in death by her parents, Wofford and Ora Harris Mote; sisters, Lillie McCoy and Bonnie Dean. Mrs. Ferguson was a member of New Hope Baptist Church having served her Lord, as Beginners Sunday School Teacher for 50 plus years. She was a long time member of Cornelia Lions Club, having achieved many awards as one of Lions best workers, and having received The Melvin Jones Fellowship Award, this being the highest award presented by Lions International. Mrs. Ferguson retired from Carwood Manufacturing with 40 plus years of loyal and dedicated service. She also worked part time at Dairy Queen in Cornelia, and then worked full time after retiring from Carwood, totaling over 30 plus years of service with Dairy Queen.

Survivors include her beloved husband of 71 years, Donald Ferguson, of Cornelia; daughter, Frances Ferguson Wade, of Cornelia; sister, Fannie Pruitt, of Demorest; grandchildren, Trinia Moore, Deanna Fauber, and Donald Wade; 13 great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services are scheduled for 4:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel with Rev. Chris York officiating. Interment will follow in New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery with Mr. Larry Whitfield officiating.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at the funeral home.
