Marvin Nathaniel Hogan, Sr. age 72 of Gainesville, passed away Friday, July 08, 2016 surrounded by his children at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following an extended illness. He was surrounded by his whole family during his final days.
Funeral services are scheduled for Sunday, July 10, 2016 at 3:30pm in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with Reverend Mike Campbell officiating. Entombment will follow in Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends on Saturday, July 9, 2016 from 2:00-4:00 & 6:00-8:00pm at the funeral home.
Mr. Hogan was born October 13, 1943 in Walhalla, South Carolina to John Willard Hogan and Janie Alma Holden Hogan. He retired after 28 years from Sunbeam Bread Company and was a member of Gainesville Masonic Lodge #219 in Gainesville and was also a member of Montgomery Memorial Baptist Church. He was a loving father and grandfather and was a great provider for his family. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and boating and fishing. Mr. Hogan was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Bertha Mae Garrett Hogan and his great-granddaughter, Amoree Michelle Martin.
Mr. Hogan is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Lori and Michael Waters of Gainesville; daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Greg Hogan Stenzel of Gainesville; son and daughter-in-law, Marvin Hogan, Jr. (Nathan) and Amber Hogan of Gainesville; grandchildren, Jamie, Nikki, Michael, Gregory, John, Natalie, Nathan III (Bubba) and Zachary; 6 great-grandchildren; sister, Yvonne Martin of Westminster, SC; sister and brother-in-law, Joyce and Phillip Brown of Seneca, SC; sister and brother-in-law, Kay and Ben Woody of Walhalla, SC; brother and sister-in-law, Sam and Tammy Hogan of Walhalla; brother and sister-in-law, Keith and Judy Hogan of Cleveland.
