Mrs. Bessie Ann Harrison, age 86, of Gainesville, Georgia, passed July 3, 2016. Home Going Services will be held Tuesday, July 5, 2016, 2:00 p.m., at First Baptist Church, 1810 Martin Luther King Blvd., Gainesville, Georgia, 30501. Rev. Isaac Whitehead, Jr. pastor and eulogist.
Remains places in state at 1:00 p.m. Interment Alta Vista Cemetery, 521 Jones St Gainesville, Georgia, 30501.

Bessie was born January 27, 1930, in Starr, South Carolina to the late Duett and Magnolia Cowan.
A time to heal…
Bessie was baptized at an early age at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Starr, South Carolina. Prior to her failing health she attended First Baptist Church in Gainesville, Georgia.
A time to love…
In 1953, Bessie married Ross Harrison. They were married for 48 years. To this union they were blessed with one daughter, Belinda, who proceeded Bessie in death in 2006.
A time to live…
Bessie graduated from Benedict College with a degree in Elementary Education. She later received her Special Education Certification from Tuskegee University. After more than thirty years of teaching, she retired from the Gainesville City School System. She was a dedicated servant to the ministries of her churches. She enjoyed time with family and friends, traveling, sewing and spending time with her great-grandchildren.

The Lord called Bessie home July 3, 2016, in Anderson, South Carolina.
She leaves to cherish her memory: granddaughter, Carlita Sims Williams; great grandchildren, Amir, Ross, Jocelyn, and Jatavis; loving son-in-law, Charles Sims; sisters, Doris Wilson from Indianapolis, Indiana, Narcio Mauldin (Frank) from Anderson, South Carolina, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Family and friends are asked to assemble at the church at 1:30 p.m.
