Jason Eli (J.E.) Garrett, Jr.

Mr. Jason Eli (J.E.) Garrett Jr., age 92, passed away on June 30, 2016.

Mr. Garrett was born in Hall County on July 17, 1923. He was active in St. Paul United Methodist Church for 45 years, serving in several leadership capacities.  After moving to Clermont, he was active and continued his service at Trinity United Methodist Church for many years.
When raising his children, he volunteered with the Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts and with various schools. He was always willing to lend a hand where needed.

Mr. Garrett remained a fan of UGA football and Braves baseball throughout his life. 

Mr. Garrett served in the United States Airforce for seven years. He was a World War II and Korean war veteran. His military decorations include the Silver Star Medal, Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal with two oak leaf clusters, Purple Heart, Distinguished unit citation with oak leaf cluster, and European - African - Middle Eastern Theatre of Operations medal with twelve battle stars.  After leaving the military, Mr. Garrett spent his career with the US Postal service, first as a rural carrier and retiring as Postmaster in Suches, GA.
 
He is survived by his wife of 39 years Iantha Freeman Garrett; daughters Betty Garrett Mansfield (John) and Becky Garrett Nance; Step-sons Wayne R. Hubbard Jr. and Matthew D. Hubbard; grandchildren Catherine C. Casper (Ryan), Hannah C. Espinoza (Gabriel), Christopher A. Nance (Ashley), and Logan C. Hubbard. Mr. Garrett also had nine great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

The visitation will be on Saturday, July 2, 2016 from 4:00 - 7:00 pm at Memorial Park North Riverside Chapel. Services will be held on Sunday, July 3, 2016 at 3:00 pm at Memorial Park North Riverside Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Eagle Ranch, 5500 Union Church Rd, Flowery Branch, GA 30542, or to Trinity United Methodist Church, 5622 Clarks Bridge Rd, Clermont, GA 30527.
