Larry Joe Payne

Obituary Date: Thursday, June 30, 2016

Larry Joe Payne, 79, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family after a brief battle with brain cancer.  A lifelong resident of Hall County, Larry was the son of the late Florence Bryant Payne and Comer Allison Payne.  He was a retired plumbing contractor and was a member of Bethany Baptist Church and attended Gainesville First United Methodist Church.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00am Saturday July 2, 2016 at Gainesville First United Methodist Church. Interment will be in Alta Vista Cemetery. Family will receive friends at Memorial Park North Funeral home Friday July 1, 2016 from 5:00pm - 7:00pm.
Larry was full of life, a devoted family man and was a dear friend to many.

He served his county faithfully in the United States Army and was stationed overseas in Korea.  When he returned from service in Korea,  he met the love of his life, Josephine Crumley.  They had a wonderful courtship and a long and happy marriage.  Often you could find Larry at the golf course.  Having never met a stranger you would find him talking with new and old friends at different places all around town!  Larry truly enjoyed traveling with his wife and family.  He and Josephine celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on a Mediterranean cruise, and often Thanksgiving was spent cruising with his entire family!

He is preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Walter Harrison (Walt) Payne and James Comer (Jim) Payne.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Josephine Crumley Payne, son and daughter-in- law, Jeff and Hart Payne; daughter and son-in-law, Kim and John Yarger; son and daughter-in-law, John and Melanee Payne; grandchildren, Mary Keys and Elizabeth Payne, Harrison, Anna Katharine and Rachel Yarger, and Madison, Amelia and Julia Anne Payne; a number of nephews and nieces, sister in laws and brother in laws. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Eagle Ranch, 5500 Union Church Rd, Flowery Branch, GA 30542.
