Charlotte Tench Underwood, age 76 of Demorest, passed away Monday, June 27, 2016.
Born in Demorest, Georgia on June 27, 1940, she was a daughter of the late Rev. John Bryant and Annie McConnell Tench. Mrs. Underwood was a seamstress for 50 plus years and a founding member and pianist of Northside Community Church in Cornelia. In her spare time she enjoyed cooking, gardening, singing, bird watching, reading her bible, and was an avid Atlanta Braves, Georgia Bulldogs, and Atlanta Falcons fan. She was a grandmother to many and the last surviving member of her immediate family.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her brothers, Bryant and Richard Tench; sisters, Hortense Loggins, Flora Maney, Christine Hughes, and Margaret Tench.
Survivors include her loving husband of 58 years, Ernest Underwood of Demorest, GA; sons and daughters in law, Steve and Jill Underwood, and Greg and Tracy Underwood all of Demorest, GA; daughters and sons in law, Kim and Greg Campbell, and Carol and Rev. Ricky Wade all of Demorest; 8 grand children, 5 great grand children, and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 am, Thursday June 30, 2016 from the Chapel of McGahee Griffin and Stewart Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Trotter and Rev. Chris Walters officiating. Interment will follow in the White Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Wednesday at the funeral home.
