Jean Rowlandson Gaddy

Mrs. Jean Rowlandson Gaddy, age 90 of Gainesville, passed away on Sunday, June 26, 2016 at her residence following an extended illness.

Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, June 29, 2016 at 11:00 am in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with interment to follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.  Reverend Wayne Hicks will officiate.  The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 28, 2016 from 6 - 8 pm at the funeral home.

Mrs, Gaddy was born October 24, 1925 in Coventry, England to the late John Rowlandson and Alice Adams Rowlandson.    Jean was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.  She was active at the Senior Center of Gainesville and was a member of the Red Hat Society.  Jean was retired from J. C. Penney in the retail market.  She became a U. S. Citizen at the age of 65 but never forgot her roots from where she was born in Coventry, England.  Jean was a God fearing women who loved to sing His hymns of praises.  She donated her spare time by knitting hats and gloves for the special needs children in the hospitals.  Jean also loved to read and do crossword puzzles in her spare time.  She will be missed but not forgotten.  A special thanks to Bridgeway Hospice for the love and support they showed us during this time of our lives.  Also, a very special heart felt thank you to Dianne Gaddy and Cathy Clark for their love, caring and support through this time in our mother’s life and for being there for our family.  Jean was a member of New Haven Congregational Holiness Church and was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Emmett R. Gaddy, her sons, Michael William Gaddy and Phillip James Gaddy and her sisters, Joan Adams and Joyce Brown. 

Mrs. Gaddy is survived by her children, Jean Ann Chandler, Alice Gaye Gaddy and Barbara & David Harkins, all of Gainesville, Geoffery John Gaddy and E.G. & Kelly Seagraves, all of Gainesville, daughter-in-law, Dianne Gaddy of Gainesville, 12 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, sister-in-law & brother-in-law, MaryJo & Wiley Reed of Gainesville and her sisters-in-laws, Helen McDonald, Eva Jane Osborne and Betty Jo Gaddy, all of Gainesville.
