Mrs. Sara Frances Walters Smith, age 83 of Dubignon Road, Toccoa, Georgia passed away Tuesday, June 21, 2016 at the Stephens County Hospital.
A daughter of the late William Furman and Janie Edmonds Walters, she was born January 27, 1933 in Stephens County, Georgia where she lived all her life. She owned and operated Sara’s Crafts and Fabrics. She was a member of Martin Baptist Church, Adult SS Teacher, and a member of the choir. She was also a member of the Singing Saints Community Choir. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Avery Donald Smith, Sr. in 2002, son, Aaron Smith in 2015, sons-in-law, Bobby Rickman in 2015 and Larry Hambrick in 2005 and by four sisters and five brothers.
Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Wayne Cowart of Stone Mountain, Georgia, Pam Rickman of Martin, Georgia and Deborah and Mike Slack of Sharon, South Carolina; two sons and daughters-in-law, Avery Donald Smith, Jr. and wife Cindy of LaGrange, Georgia and Alan and Michelle Smith of Danielsville, Georgia; grandchildren, Robert and Sandy Hambrick, Jonathan and Laura Rickman, Allyson and Jesse Warren, Rebekah Rickman, Taylor Rickman, Jeremy Segars, Marie and Chris Johnson, Christopher and Amber Kastner, Brandon Smith, Kelly Smith, Austin Smith, Amy and Todd McCollum and Angel Smith; great-grandchildren, Camden and Hayden Hambrick, Sid Hopkins, Mason Rickman, Jovie and David Warren, Carolyn and Alexander Johnson, Coren, Jesse and Ashlynn Kastner, Sawyer Hollis and Riley, Aiden and Owen McCollum.
Funeral services will be Thursday, June 23, 2016, 3 o’clock PM at Martin Baptist Church with the Reverend Harold Walters, the Reverend Bill Smith and the Reverend Roddy Turner officiating. Grandchildren and great-grandchildren will serve as pallbearers, Jonathan Rickman, Brandon Smith, Austin Smith, Todd McCollum, Jesse Warren and Sid Hopkins.
The family will be at the home of Mrs. Pam Rickman, Avalon Road, Martin, Georgia and will receive friends at the Acree-Davis Funeral Home on Thursday from 12:30 PM until the service time. Online condolences can be made by visiting the website at www.acree-davisfh.com.
