Mac Graham died unexpectedly at Northeast Georgia Medical Center with the love of his life, Madge Filbey Graham, and his cherished sister, Patsy Leonard, by his side.
Mac was born in Cordele, GA and grew up in Macon, GA. He attended Mercer and Emory Universities. Mac’s management career moved him from GA to Colorado, where he worked in the ski industry for many years. Yet he always remained a Georgian at heart. He and Madge moved back to his home state five years ago following retirement.
Sports were always a big part of Mac’s life, whether playing or coaching basketball, baseball or football, broadcasting Play by Plays on the radio, or cheering for his favorite teams, especially Georgia Tech and the Green Bay Packers.
Mac was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin and Mildred Graham. He is survived by his wife, Madge Filbey Graham; sister, Patsy (Robert) Leonard of Haysville, NC; sons, Scott (Stephanie) Graham of Gainesville, GA, and Sam (Heather) Graham of LaGrange, GA; daughter, Gena (Brian) Peterson of Tampa, FL; Uncle, Don (Lisa) Griffin of Forsyth GA, seven grandchildren, and two nephews and a niece.
Mac will always be remembered by his family and friends as a loving Southern gentleman with a quick wit and ready smile. He will be missed by all.
A gathering of family and friends for a celebration of life will be held at his home on Saturday, July 23rd at 4:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Meals on Wheels, 430 Prior St. S.E., Gainesville, GA 30501.
