James Alexander Woody, Sr.

Evans Funeral Home announces the death of Mr. James Alexander Woody, Sr., affectionately known as “Woody”, age 78 of Commerce, Georgia, who entered into rest Saturday, June 11, 2016.  Mr. Woody was born in Madison County, Georgia, a son of the late Roger Tandy Woody and the late Blanche Crowe Woody, was a retired deliveryman and a member of Bethany United Methodist Church.  Mr. Woody was a member of many Gospel Quartets and performed many years throughout the South.  In addition to his parents, Woody is preceded by a brother, Alvin Woody.

Survivors include a daughter, Beth Bullock and her husband Van of Jefferson, Sons; Steve Woody of Gainesville, Scott Woody of Clermont, Craig Woody and his wife Sherri of Murrayville, Step-Son; Dean Fowler of Gainesville.  Brother, Guy Woody of Danielsville.  Eight Grandchildren and six great grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, June 14, 2016 from the Chapel of Evans Funeral Home with Reverend Scott Hearn officiating.  The family will receive friends 6 – 9 P.M.  Monday, June 13, 2016 at the funeral home.  In accordance with Mr. Woody’s wishes his remains will be cremated after the service.  Memorials may be made to Gainesville Aid Project, C/O Antioch United Methodist Church, 2922 Antioch Church Road, Gainesville, Georgia  30506.
