Susan Flynn Adkins

Obituary Date: Tuesday, June 7, 2016

On the morning of June 7, 2016 Susan Flynn Adkins entered into eternal rest at her home in Cumming, Georgia at the age of 64.

Susan Transou Flynn Adkins. She was so proud to carry all of these names. She was born in

Richmond, VA on January 11, 1952 and raised by her loving parents Robert and Doris Flynn  with her sister Janis Flynn Smith in Greensboro, NC until they moved to Atlanta, GA in 1970.

She slowly made her way back to her beloved North Carolina where she raised her children.

She was married to her best friend and soulmate, Richard E. Adkins, October 13, 2007. They shared a wonderful life together and were inseparable for almost 10 years. The world is a much better place having Susan with us although she was only here for a short time.

She attended High Point University where she studied Interior Design and excelled in her endeavors. She was chosen to assist several NASCAR drivers and their wives to decorate and furnish their homes. She loved everything about interior design and was a perfectionist in her work.

Susan was a loving Wife, Mother, Nana, Daughter, Sister and Aunt and anyone that knew her loved her.  She had the sweetest and most caring heart for everyone.

If you knew Susan, there was one thing you knew about her; she loved her children more than anything in this world and considered them her greatest accomplishment.  You didn't have to know her personally to know this about her as she would tell any stranger that she met about her children and grandchildren and that always included showing them her latest pictures.  She was so proud.  She never met a stranger and would engage everyone she met in conversation. She had a zest for life and a heart full of love, and would show it like no one else. She was the epitome of unconditional love and acceptance. If you were ever her friend, you were her friend for life. She was the most giving, unselfish person God ever put on this earth.

She was an impeccable dresser and an even better shopper with her girls.  She loved antique shopping the most along with finding the perfect gifts for her Grandchildren.  She loved to spend all of her free time with her family and this is where she found all of her happiness.

Susan was a very easy going person with a fun and a playfully silly personality.  She loved to chat for hours on the phone, give heartfelt and motivating advice and always gave an ear to listen just as long as you needed.  You couldn't find a better Mom, Wife or friend to share life with.

Susan is preceded in death by her parents Robert and Doris Flynn.

Susan is survived by her husband Richard E. Adkins and her four children, Charles Michael Barron, Courtenay Graham Barron, Meghan Barron Little and Whitney Barron Petty along with her grandchildren Pierson Flynn Little and Kinsey Grey Barron and soon to arrive Reese Caroline Little.  She is also survived by her older sister Janis Flynn Smith along with her niece Stephanie Smith Moore and nephew David Joshua Smith.

The Visitation will be held on Sunday June 12, 2016 from 4-8pm.
