Jack Benson Gilstrap Sr., age 93, of Gainsville, GA passed away on June 3, 2016 at his residence following an extended illness.
Jack was born May 1, 1923 in Clermont, GA he was the son of the late George and Clara Stevens Gilstrap.
He was a WWII Veteran having served in the Philippines. He was retired from Wayne Farms Hatchery in Clermont, GA.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Mary Stringer Gilstrap, a daughter Nancy Gilstrap Savage, a grandson, Robbie Pruitt, two great grandsons, Shane Holbrook, II and Chad Holbrook, two brothers, Charlie Gilstrap and Dewitt Gilstrap; and six sisters, Carrena Clark, Sara Henson, Robbie Lee Beasley, Ruby Sayne, Frances Couch and Betty Clark.
He is survived by sons and daughter in laws, Jack Jr. and Janie Gilstrap of Cleveland and Don and Annette Gilstrap of Gainsville; daughters and sons in laws, Margie and Sam Holbrook of Clarkesville; Beverly and Mitchell Pruitt of Cleveland; Debbie and Ricky Pruitt also of Cleveland; he is also survived by 13 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren and 3 great – great grandchildren
The family will received friends from 4 – 8 p.m. Sunday, June 5 at the funeral home.
Graveside services will be Monday June 6, 2016 at 2 p.m. at the Bethel United Methodist Church in Clermont, GA with the Rev. Charles Buice officiating.
