Herbert Andrew Coté, 87, of Robins, Iowa died June 1, 2016 in St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 11, at the Memorial Park Funeral Home North, Gainesville, Georgia.
Visitation will be from 1 to 2 pm with service at 2 pm.
Born June 30, 1928 in New Haven and raised in Hamden, Connecticut, Herbert was the only child of Clarence and Mabel Coté. Herb served in the Navy from August 1945 - June 1949 on the USS Namakagon, AOG 53. He was called back into service for the Korean War and was stationed in Guam from December 1950 - April 1952. After military service he attended the University of Miami and graduated in1956 with a degree in marketing. He met his bride-to-be in Chicago and after a six week courtship, married in New York City in 1957. Herb had a passion for boating and skiing with his family as well as hunting and fishing with friends, had a contagious booming laugh, loved people of all walks, and was greatly loved and admired in return. Most importantly, he was a loving husband and father. He dedicated his life to serving our Lord and was committed to helping others.
He is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 59 years, Betty Robinson Coté; three children, Broc Coté (Susan), Nanette Bishop, and Scott Coté (Petra); six grandchildren, Joshua Coté (Kelly), Brooke, Molly and Carter Bishop, Katherine and Claire Coté, and great-grandchild Hudson Coté.
