Leroy Leonard Edwards

Mr. Leroy Leonard Edwards, age 85, of Athens, GA died Thursday, June 2, 2016 at Gentiva Hospice, IPU.  Mr. Edwards was born in Commerce to the late Oris and Margia Thurmond Edwards.  He was a member of West End Baptist Church and a veteran of the United States Army.  Mr. Edwards was retired as a painter.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Edwards was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Shelton Edwards.

Mr. Edwards is survived by his daughters, Rhonda Perry of Commerce and Sandra Syfett of Athens; sons, Steven Whitley and Gerald Whitley both of Athens; sister, Louise Gordon of Maysville; and a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 2 PM, Saturday, June 4 at the chapel of Little-Ward Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Manus officiating.  Interment will follow in Athens Memory Gardens.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 1 to 2 PM.
