Elizabeth Katherine Collins

Mrs. Elizabeth Katherine Collins (“Betty”), age 84 of Lovers Lane, Toccoa passed away into the presence of her Lord and Savior on Monday, May 30, 2016 at her home.

A daughter of the late Frank and Mary Culver Skidmore, she was born on February 13, 1932 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  She lived most of her life in Pennsylvania and Ohio but spent the last 22 years in Toccoa.  She was a member of Return Baptist Church in Demorest, Georgia.  She was a homemaker and enjoyed yardwork, decorating and spending time with friends and family.  She and her late husband Paul began a youth ministry at their church in Philadelphia where they served for many years before moving to Toccoa.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Allen Collins, three sisters, Roberta Blakemore, Ann Heath and Peggy Lytle and by two brothers, Harry Skidmore and Ernest Skidmore.

Survivors include a daughter, Nancy Hazelton and her husband Kenneth of Toccoa; a sister-in-law, Thelma Manning of Dayton, Ohio; two brothers-in-law, Hal Heath of Quakertown, Pennsylvania and Kenneth Blawelt of Dayton, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Monday, June 6, 2016, 2 O’clock PM at Return Baptist Church with The Reverend Anthony Shore officiating.  The body will lie in state at the church from 1:30 PM until the service time.

The family will be at the home on Lovers Lane and will receive friends at the Acree-Davis Funeral Home on Sunday, 2 PM to 4 PM and 6 PM until 8 PM.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Return Baptist Church, P.O. Box 2714, Clarkesville, Georgia 30523 in memory of Mrs. Elizabeth (“Betty”) Collins.

Interment will be in Stephens Memorial Gardens with the Acree-Davis Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements for Mrs. Elizabeth (“Betty”) Collins.
