Cecelia Ruth Dyer, 78, of Oakwood, GA, passed away May 28, 2016. Ruth was born May 25, 1938, in Blairsville, Georgia, to Frank Hedden Dyer and Dora Nix Dyer.
Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at 2:00pm in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with Reverend Keith Jones officiating. Entombment will follow in Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 31, 2016 from 12:00pm-2:00pm at the funeral home.
Ruth grew up in Blairsville where she graduated from Blairsville High, then moved to Atlanta where she started her career. She was a loyal bank employee until her retirement when she moved to Murrayville to be close to family. In 2010 she settled into assisted living at Peachtree Plantation—now The Waterford at Oakwood.
Her extended family has always been special to Ruth, and she is Aunt Ruth to about 100 nieces and nephews. She is also survived by one sister, Patricia Holland of Gainesville, and one brother, John Leonard Dyer, a resident of New Horizon Lanier Park, Gainesville.
She was preceded in death by her parents Frank Hedden Dyer and Dora Nix Dyer, her brothers Wendel, Wesley, and Ronald, her sisters Annie Lou Holloway, Mescal Seabolt, and Kathleen Nahser, and many other loved ones.
She was a very special Sister and Aunt, who will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
The family extends gratitude to her caregivers at The Waterford at Oakwood and to the caring folks at Crossroads Hospice.
