Necie Lealer Lois Worley Shirley

Necie Lealer Lois Worley Shirley, age 89 of Alto, passed away Saturday, May 28, 2016.

Born in Demorest, Georgia on April 29, 1927, she was a daughter of the late Wooten and Ola Belle Worley.  Mrs. Shirley was a member of Oakwood Gospel Tabernacle Family Worship Center and also attended Springway Baptist Church. She was a homemaker and a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother.  She enjoyed singing, song writing, flowers, and cooking. She was a video buff who collected many old movies.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Clifford Shirley; daughters, Carol Debra Shirley, Norma Ola Belle Shirley and Geneva Thompson; sons, Michael Douglas Shirley and Harold Clifford Shirley; she was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Bernice Wiley Poole and James Poole of Alto, Janice and Dennis Williamson of Gainesville, Lois and Larry Towe of Gainesville, Brenda and Billy Williams of Cornelia, Anna Sue and Sherman Patrum of Cornelia and Maudrie Atkins of Cornelia; sons and daughters-in-law, Chester Ray and Geneva Shirley of Cornelia, Kerry Matthew Shirley of Gainesville and Louis Arthur and Gail Shirley of Toccoa; 40 grandchildren, 110 great grandchildren and 70 great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services are 2 pm Tuesday, May 31, 2016, in the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin and Stewart with Pastor Gary Osteen and Pastor Jeff Morgan officiating. Interment will follow in Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 & 6-8 pm on Monday at the funeral home.
