Melvin B. Powers

Melvin B. Powers, age 73 of Cleveland, passed away Friday, May 20, 2016. 

Mr. Powers was born May 11, 1943 in Gainesville, GA to Walter and Laura Peck Powers. Melvin was a retried chicken farmer and truck driver for Ash Brothers Feed Mill. He was a member of Mossy Creek Baptist Church and was preceded in death by his wife, Margie Lunsford Powers, siblings, Ruby Burgess, Marrion Powers, Aaron Powers, Mose Powers, Jr Powers, Myrtice Palmer and Lois Gearin. 

Survivors include his son, Melvin Benny Powers, Dahlonega; daughter and son-in-law, Pam and Gary Ferguson, Cleveland; grandson, Chad Ferguson, Cleveland; sisters, Sadie Cox, Martha Gooch, both of Cleveland; brother, Dillard Powers, Cleveland; brother and sister-in-law, Joe and Bertha Powers, Dahlonega; special friend, Ramon Goodwin. 

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Monday, May 23, 2016 at The Chapel of Barrett Funeral Home. The Rev. Rondal Garmon and the Rev. Donald Fuller will officiate. Interment will follow at Mossy Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. 

The family will receive friends from 11 AM -2 PM & 6-8 PM Sunday at the funeral home.
