Jimmy Luther Hill

Jimmy L. Hill of Cleveland passed away Friday, May 20,2016 at the Northeast Georgia Medical Center due to ongoing complications from a massive stroke he suffered on January 3, 2016. Born in Stephens County on June 4, 1950, he was the son of the late Luther and Reba Lee Jordan Hill.
Jimmy was a regular attendant of Macedonia United Methodist Church serving on many church committees. He enjoyed traveling, camping, and was a true Nascar fan.
He was a retired educator having begun his full time career in education in1976 at Franklin County High School as the welding instructor for the Metals Program. He continued his welding instruction at White County High School and North Georgia Technical College. Many will remember his as the CDL examiner at NGTC from where he retired in 2004. He was a member of the Fraternal Organization of Free and Accepted Masons with dual membership at Yonah Lodge #382 and Hebron Lodge #564 where he held multiple offices, serving as Worshipful Master of Hebron Lodge.
Mr. Hill proudly served his county in the United States Army during the Vietnam War where he saw combat with the 25th Infantry Division as well as the 23rd Infantry Division, Americal. He was awarded The Army Commendation Medal and The Bronze Star Medal.
Surviving are his wife, Elsie Kinsey Hill, of Cleveland, son, Kevin Hill, of Cleveland, special family members, Tasha Dumbaugh of Cleveland and her daughter, Aiyana; sister, Sue Landers, of Cornelia, sister and brother in law, Ruth & Gerald Hopper, sister-in-law, Joan Kinsey, all of Cleveland; brothers and sisters-in-law, Buford & Jeanie Kinsey and Rev. Garvis & Judy Kinsey, all of Cleveland. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held Monday, May 23, 2016, at 2:00 p.m. at Macedonia United Methodist Church with Rev. Garvis Kinsey and Rev. Hoyt Winkler officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with full military honors provided by The White County Honor Guard along with Masonic Last Rights provided by Yonah Lodge 382.
The family will receive friends at Alexander Funeral Home from 2-4 p.m. & 6-8 p.m. Sunday.
