Ray Tolbert

Funeral services for Ray Tolbert, age 80, of Baldwin will be held  on Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at 2:00 PM from Hillside Memorial Chapel with Rev. Chad Parker and Rev. Tommy Stowe officiating.  Interment will follow the service in Mt. Carmel Baptist Church Cemetery in Lula, Georgia.

Mr. Tolbert passed away Sunday, May 15, 2016, following a period of declining health.

Born June 28, 1935 in Jeffers0n, Georgia, Mr. Tolbert was the son of the late Boyd Tolbert, Sr. and Farris Garrison Tolbert. Mr. Tolbert was a veteran of the United States Navy, having served during the Bay of Pigs.  After serving in the military Mr. Tolbert worked in construction and brick masonry.  He was a member of Hillside Baptist Church in Cornelia.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Tolbert is preceded in death by his wife Mary Whitlock Tolbert, brothers Boyd Tolbert, Jr., Edwin Tolbert, and Max Tolbert.

Survivors include daughters Nancy Carey of  Clarkesville and Vicky Brock of Demorest, brother and sister in law Sam and Martha Tolbert of Clarkesville, grandchildren Joy Lee Brock (Jennifer), Latasha Spence (William) and Lakeitta Bonney (R0bert), great grandchildren Cody, Katie, Kylie, Casey, and Christian Tench, Alex, Damon, Kayla, and Sofia Brock, and Ava Bonney, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.  

The family will receive friends at Hillside Memorial Chapel on Tuesday, May 17, 2016 from 2:00 PM until 4:00PM and from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM
