Emmie Mildred King Elrod

Mrs. Emmie Mildred King Elrod, age 95 of 33 Hands of Love Drive, Toccoa passed away Friday, May 13, 2016 at the Stephens County Hospital.

A daughter of the late Robert C. and Mary Fowler King, she was born October 9, 1920 in Greenville, South Carolina having lived most of her life in Stephens County.  She was a homemaker, the oldest member of Mullins Ford Baptist Church and the Ladies Sunday School Class.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Charles Elrod in 1968, son, Gene Elrod in 1984, great-granddaughter, Emma Grace Elrod in 2013, four sisters, Vivian King, Beulah Lawson, Madeline Zucchi and Elizabeth Holloway and by three brothers, Cleve King, Clarence King and Lewis King.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Rev. Roger and Betty Elrod and Michael and Anita Elrod both of Martin, Georgia; nephew raised in the home, Bobby Harbert of Travelers Rest, South Carolina; grandchildren, James and Tammy Elrod, Loretta and Kevin Westmoreland, Bradley and Bethany Elrod, Adam and Kim Elrod and Alyssa Elrod; great-grandchildren, Brittany Westmoreland, Brelan Westmoreland, Jordan Elrod, Reagan Elrod, Jaxun Elrod, Dylan Elrod, Aniston Elrod and Paisley Elrod; a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Sunday, May 15, 2016, 5 O’clock PM in the Hillcrest Chapel of the Acree-Davis Funeral Home with The Reverend Roger Elrod and Layman Dale Payne officiating.  Children and grandchildren will serve as pallbearers, Roger Elrod, Michael Elrod, Adam Elrod, Bradley Elrod, Kevin Westmoreland and James Elrod.  Granddaughters will serve as honorary escort, Alyssa Elrod and Loretta Westmoreland.

The family will be at their respective homes and will receive friends at the Acree-Davis Funeral Home on Sunday from 3 PM until the service time.  Online condolences can be made at www.acree-davisfh.com.

Interment will follow in the Mullins Ford Baptist Church Cemetery with the Acree-Davis Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements for Mrs. Mildred King Elrod.
