Evans Funeral Home announces the death of Mr. William T. “Bill” Atwood, age 73, of Jefferson, Georgia who entered into rest Friday, May 13, 2016. Mr. Atwood was born in Atlanta, Georgia a son of the late John Slayton Atwood and the late Cleo D. Sturdivant Atwood, was a member of Apple Valley Baptist Church, was a Veteran of the U.S. Air Force, and was a retired Lineman with Marable / Pirkle, Inc. after twenty eight years of service and was also retired from the City of Norcross as the Assistant Electrical Director. In addition to his parents Mr. Atwood is preceded by sisters; Ellen Williams, Pat Hawkins, Della Green and Mary Douglas as well as brothers; Johnny Atwood and Howard Atwood.
Survivors include his wife Darline Durden Atwood of Jefferson, son, William Scott Atwood of Demorest, daughter, Ginger Lynn Phillips of Jefferson. Two sisters; Brenda Kenney of College Park, and Carol Glascock of Alaska. Five grandchildren and four great grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Sunday, May 15, 2016 from the Chapel of Evans Funeral Home with Reverend Ricky Thrasher officiating with burial to follow at 3:30 P.M. in Forest Lawn Cemetery, 5755 Mallory Road, College Park, Georgia.
The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home Saturday, May 14, 2016, 2 – 5 P.M..
