Mrs. Glenda Pope Berry, age 68, of Gainesville, GA, passed away Saturday, May 7, 2016 at her home. The cause of death was Lewy-Body Dementia.
Mrs. Berry was born in Atlanta, GA on March 28, 1948, and was the daughter of the late Glenn Pope and the late Thelma Saffel Pope. Mrs. Berry was employed by Georgia’s Own Credit Union for 38 years as Vice President of Branch Operations, where she was known as “The Little General”. Mrs. Berry attended Hopewell Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband of 37 years, William Jewell Berry, Sr., to whom she was married on December 28, 1979; six children, William Jewell Berry, Jr., Melanie Berry Fricks, Jonathan Berry, Michael Berry, Mark Berry and Missy Berry, 17 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Sandra Bynum, Nancy Miles and Marilyn Verciglio.
The code that she lived by were contained in these bible verses: Proverbs, Chapter 31, Verses 10-31 and I Corinthians, Chapter 13.
The family will receive friends on Sunday May 22, from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Ward's Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Prior to the memorial service, she will be cremated in accordance with her wishes.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to St. Jude’s Hospital or The Shriner’s Hospital, two organizations that were close to her heart.
