Katie Goodson Kay

Mrs. Katie Goodson Kay, age 80, of Asheville, North Carolina passed away on Thursday, May 05, 2016 at Phoebe Putney Hospital in Albany, Georgia following a brief illness.

            Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Oakwood First United Methodist Church with interment to follow in Memorial Park Mausoleum. She will lie in state at the church prior to the service on Tuesday, May 10, 2016 from 10:00 am - 11:00 am.  Reverend Glenn Parrish will officiate and assisting him Rev. Dr. Lowrie J. Welton. The family will receive friends on Monday, May 09, 2016 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

            Mrs. Kay was born on February 11, 1936 in Mitchell County, Georgia to the late John Leland Goodson and Katie Etta Thomas Goodson. She was retired as Accountant for Maintenance at University of North Carolina and was a member of Oakwood First United Methodist Church. She is preceded in death by her parents, her son, Michael Tullis and her brothers, Ralph Goodson and Gene Goodson.

            Mrs. Kay is survived by her husband, David Kay of Asheville, NC, son, Mark Anthony Tullis of Asheville, NC, daughter and son-in-law, Carol Tullis Harwood (Bill) of Weaverville, NC, daughter and son-in-law, Sherry Tullis LaBoon (Steve) of Athens, Ga, daughter and son-in-law, Janet Tullis Matayabas (Ray) of Sierra Vista, AZ, step-son and wife, Timothy Kay (Sharon) Of Norman, OK, step-daughter, Julie Kay Simon of Norman, OK, step-son, Thomas Kay of Norman, OK, 13 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, sister, Anne Goodson Ruff of Tifton, Ga, sister, Elizabeth Dale Goodson Donovan of Louisiana.
