Marvin Lee Cantrell, age 79 of Mt. Airy, passed away Wednesday, May 4, 2016.
Born in Turnerville, Georgia on July 11, 1936, he was a son of the late Harley Cantrell and Mary Ivester Cantrell. Mr. Cantrell loved the Lord and was an avid musician playing lead guitar and bass. He spent over thirty years as an instrument technician with the Lovell Piano Company.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brothers, Earl Cantrell, and J.C. Cantrell.
Survivors include wife of thirty years, Marlene Cope Cantrell of Mt. Airy; Son, Tim Cantrell of Mt. Airy, brothers, James Cantrell of Eastanollee, L.C. Cantrell of Carnesville, Calvin Cantrell and Ray Cantrell, both of Toccoa; sister, Inez Gordon of Greer, South Carolina; 3 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Funeral services are 2 pm, Sunday, May 8, 2016 at the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart with Dr. Don Samples and Rev. Austin Ivester officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 pm on Saturday at the funeral home.
