James Henry Fowler, Jr. passed away on Friday, April 29, 2016 of a heart attack. Born in Atlanta, Ga, James was the son of James Fowler and Dorothy Thomas. He is preceded in death by his parents and his son, Joseph Fowler.
James was raised in Atlanta and lived in the area his entire life. He loved Atlanta and was proud to be from Atlanta. He later moved to the Cumming/Gainesville area and loved living on Lake Lanier. James built homes in the Stone Mountain area and also built custom homes in the Paces Ferry area. Later after moving to Cumming, Ga he worked as a contractor specializing in tile work.
James served honorably in the US Coast Guard during the time of the Vietnam war. He was very proud of his service.
James was a lifelong artist who loved drawing, watercolors, and photography. He loved the outdoors and was an avid skier and golfer.
James loved people and made friends everywhere he went. He loved being with his friends and family. He coached little league football and baseball for his children’s teams and later enjoyed being a part of his grand-nephews’ lives and watching them grow up. He moved in with his sister and her husband to help care for his sister Carolyn when she was struggling with Alzheimer's.
He will be greatly missed by his family.
There will be a celebration of Jim’s life and time to visit with the family and friends of Jim and share stories of his life on Sunday, May 15 from 1 pm to 5:30 pm at the home of Janeen Irvin, 2430 Loxford Lane, Alpharetta, GA 30009.
