Mrs. Mary Colleen Poole Howard age 89, of Gainesville, Georgia, passed away Thursday, April 28, 2016.
Graveside services are scheduled for 3:00 pm Monday, May 2, 2016 at Alta Vista Cemetery.
Mrs. Howard was born August 16, 1926 in Lula, Georgia the oldest daughter of nine children born to the late Joe Calvin Poole and Gartrell Miller Poole. She was a member of First Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School. Mary’s warm beautiful smile was a reflection of her kind spirit. She was known for being thoughtful and selfless to all who knew her. She led by example with her strong values, work ethic and taking great pride in her home, family and especially her children and grandchildren. She had a special touch with plants and enjoyed working in her yard and was a member of the Gainesville Garden Club. She also loved UGA football. She was preceded in death by her husband, William (Bill) Howard and daughter, Judy Howard.
Mary is survived by her daughter, Kay Blackstock of Gainesville; son, Joe Howard also of Gainesville; 7 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Rae Popham and sister-in-law, Henrietta Cunningham.
