Mary Bell Hayes

Mrs. Mary Bell Hayes (Witt) was born in Jefferson, GA to the late Rate Moss and Woodie Witt.  Mrs. Hayes moved to Cincinnati, Ohio for many years where she met her late husband Hilary Hayes Sr. Ms. Hayes attended Fair Street School. She worked in the poultry field for many years and later went to Brenau College where she received her nursing degree and became a Registered Nurse.  She worked in the nursing field until her health began to fail. Mrs. Hayes joined the New Salem Baptist Church at an early age where she served on the usher and senior usher board alongside her mother for many years until she could no longer do so.

Mrs. Mary Hayes was preceded in death by her husband of fifty years Mr. Hilary Sr., her mother Mrs. Kate Moss, her father Mr. Woodie Witt, her brother Mr. Joseph and Larry Witt.

She leaves to cherish her memories nine children: Paula Hayes, Carolyn Hayes, Teresa Lyles, Patricia Hayes, Rachel (Steve) Shields of Gainesville, GA, Hilary Hays Jr., (Grace) of Braselton, GA, Angela Hayes, Lisa Hayes, Sierra Harrison of Gainesville, GA, one brother Mr. Donald Witt (Jackie) of Boston, Massachusetts, twenty-eight grandchildren, fifty-three great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces nephews family and friends.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, April 30, 2016 at 2:00 PM at New Salem Baptist Church in Jefferson, GA.  Visitation will be held at Wimberly & Jackson Funeral Home on Friday, April 29, 2016 from 6:00 PM- 8:00 PM. Professional Services Entrusted to Wimberly & Jackson Funeral Home.
