Rachel Ann Conner

Obituary Date: Wednesday, April 27, 2016

Rachel Ann Conner, age 59 of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away Sunday, April 24, 2016, at her residence. Ann had previously been a resident of Hall County.

Ann was born in Gainesville, Georgia on January 16, 1957. Ann was the beloved wife of Terry Conner of Blairsville, Georgia. Ann was the beloved mother of three children that she loved dearly.  She is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Holly and Chris Davidson of Gainesville, Georgia, son Hunter Conner of Blairsville, Georgia, and son Bo Fowler of Gainesville, Georgia. She is also survived by her mother Wilma Poole of Gainesville, Georgia, as well as her brother and sister-in-law Donny and Phyllis Poole of Gainesville, Georgia. She is further survived by special close friends, whom she dearly loved, Dale and Janell Ward of Greensboro, Georgia.  Ann had a number of other very special friends both in Gainesville as well as in the North Georgia Mountains that she enjoyed spending time with.

Ann was preceded in death by her father, Carl Poole of Gainesville, Georgia, as well as her father-in-law and mother-in-law Lee and Julia Conner of Gainesville, Georgia.

Ann graduated from East Hall High School. She was the first one in her family to further her education. She graduated from Brenau College in Gainesville as an honor graduate with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Early Childhood Education, as well as graduating from Piedmont College in Demorest, Georgia as an honor graduate with a Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education. She began her teaching career in the Hall County School System at Tadmore Elementary School. She was well liked and left a positive impression on many of her students. Later in life she was employed with the Gainesville City School System where she taught at both Enota Elementary School and New Holland Elementary School. After retiring from Gainesville and moving to the mountains, she became bored quickly and became employed by Brasstown Valley Resort, where she enjoyed meeting and helping people.

Ann was a member of Timber Ridge Baptist Church in Lula, Georgia, but since moving to the North Georgia Mountains, had been attending Enota Baptist Church in Hiawassee, Georgia with her family. She was a professed Christian, accepting the Lord Jesus Christ, as her personal savior at an early age. 

In lieu of flowers, we request that donations be made to the American Cancer Society.

Visitation will be on Saturday April 30, 2016 from 2pm to 5pm at Memorial Park Funeral Home on Memorial Park Road in Gainesville.  A Memorial Service will be held at a later.
