Annemarie DeSantis Hodge

Obituary Date: Friday, April 22, 2016

Annemarie DeSantis Hodge, 41, of Alpharetta, GA lost her battle on April 22, 2016. Born in the Bronx, NY she was the daughter of the late Erasmo DeSantis and Ann Zingone Michaels. Her beloved husband George Edward Hodge IV is a Johns Creek K-9 police officer.

 

Annemarie was educated in New York and received degrees from St. Joseph’s and Dowling Colleges. She and her spouse relocated to Georgia shortly after their marriage on June 27, 1999. Annemarie was one of the original faculty members at Ocee Elementary School in Alpharetta where she taught special needs children. She was a much loved teacher who was awarded the honors of Teacher of the Year in 2007, with a second nomination in 2012. She was an advocate for children with autism and was an active member of her local homeowner’s association.

 

Annemarie was an energetic and vibrant woman who was devoted to her family. She is survived by her spouse George, and two children, Jack and Connor Hodge. Her siblings Salvatore DeSantis, Cristina Kerrigan, Anthony Michaels, sister-in-law’s Kristen Hodge & Lindsay DeSantis and brother- in law Michael Kerrigan. As well as her nieces and nephews. Annemarie and her family enjoyed making memories together taking special trips to Disney World, Eagle Island and New York City. Her family, friends and community remember her as a joyful, selfless, generous woman with an infectious smile. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

 

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 27 at 10:30 am at St. Benedict Catholic Church in Johns Creek, GA with Fr. Paul Flood presiding over the Mass. Burial will follow at Peachtree Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 26 from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm and 5:00 pm – 9:00 pm at the McDonald & Son Funeral Home in Cumming, GA.

 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Annemarie’s memory to AutismSpeaks.org  or the GoFundMe account in trust for her children.
