Mr. Roy Edward Howard age 89 of Hospital Drive, Toccoa passed away Friday April 22, 2016 at The Clary Care Center of Toccoa.
A son of the late George Lester and Pearl Pitts Howard, he was born on May 5, 1926 in Stephens County, Georgia where he lived all his life. A veteran of the United States Air Corps having served in World War II. He was employed with Coats and Clark, Moore’s Finance and S and H Small Engine Company. A member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, Masonic Lodge 309, Shriner, VFW and American Legion. He was preceded in death by his wife Ruby Patrick Howard in 2008.
Survivors include three sisters and brother-in-law Floy Kidd Riddle and Dorothy Kidd of Carrolton, Georgia, Hazel and Melvin Jackson of Gainesville, Georgia, two sisters-in-law Francis Howard of Toccoa and Ann Patrick of Seneca, South Carolina and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Sunday April 24, 2016 at 4 P.M. at the Hillcrest Chapel of the Acree-Davis Funeral Home with the Reverend Ken Jackson, the Reverend Jerrell Beatty and the Reverend Roy Bainey officiating. The family will be at their respective homes and will receive friends at Acree-Davis Funeral Home on Saturday from 6 P.M. til 8 P.M.
The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers Tony Howard, Johnny Howard, Greg Howard, William Howard, Jimmy Howard and Dustin Smith.
Interment will following in Stephens Memorial Gardens.
The family asked that flowers be omitted and donations to be made to the Shriner Hospital 2900 Rocky Point Dr. Tampa, FL 33607 in his memory.
