Ruby Dean (Cleveland) Thomas

Ruby Dean (Cleveland) Thomas, age 88 of Lula, passed away Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at Mesun Hospice following an extended illness.

Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, April 22, 2016 at 3:30pm at Bethlehem Baptist Church with Rev. Kiland Miller, Rev. Dwayne Ryals and Rev. Lyn Land officiating. Mrs. Thomas will lie in state from 2:30-3:30pm prior to the service. Interment will follow in Westview Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 21, 2016 from 2:00-4:00pm and 6:00-8:00pm at the funeral home.

Mrs. Thomas was born April 1, 1928 in Winder, Georgia to William Randolph Cleveland, Sr and Talitha (Leatherwood) Cleveland. She was retired from the Banks County School System as a lunchroom manager and was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church. Mrs. Thomas was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Wiley Kenyon Thomas; her daughter, Joyce Yvonne Thomas; granddaughter, Melanie Yvonne McElreath; sister and brother-in-law, Catherine and J.W. Whelchel; brother and sister-in-law, William Randolph Cleveland, Jr. and Frances Cleveland; Homer and Mae Cleveland.

Mrs. Thomas is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Bobby Payne of Gainesville; daughter, Karen Thomas Cooper of Montezuma, GA; son and daughter-in-law, Bryan Amory Thomas and Michelle Thomas of Lula; daughter, Stephanie Thomas Smith of Lula; grandson and wife, Jason and Darla Cooper of Loudon, TN; granddaughter and husband, Angie and Kiland Miller of Lula; granddaughter and husband, Kayla and Josh Barrett of Demorest; grandson and wife, Andrew and Brittany Deaton of Lula; grandson and wife, Nicholas and Erica Deaton of Gainesville; grandson, Tristan Thomas of Lula; granddaughter, Afton Bramlett of Lula; grandson, Chandler Smith of Lula; great-grandchildren, Megan Munroe, Benjamin McElreath, Kaylee Cooper, Mason Cooper, Lane Miller, Paige Miller, Lara Barrett, Hayden Barrett and Emmalee Deaton.
