Mr. James Alton Sweat, Sr., age 91 of 390 Whitworth Road, Eastanollee, Georgia passed away Monday, April 18, 2016 at his residence.
A son of the late James Harley and Artie Emmanuel Sweat, he was born September 1, 1924 in Marion, South Carolina having lived most of his life in Orlando, Florida and the last 18 years in Stephens County. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army, WWII, retired from road construction and was a member of Zebulon Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of the home, Ruby Monk Sweat; two daughters and son-in-law, Janine and Erich Metler of Westminster, South Carolina and Margaret Platt of Temple, Florida; five sons and daughters-in-law, Jimmy and Tammy Sweat of Toccoa, Rick and Jackie Sweat of Kissamee, Florida, John Sweat of Eastanollee, Denver Platt of Boise, Idaho and Duane and Donna Platt of Torrey, Utah; ten grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, April 20, 2016, 2 O’clock PM in the Hillcrest Chapel of Acree-Davis Funeral Home with The Reverend Rolf Woodard officiating. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers, Joshua Sweat, Jacob Sweat, Jeremy Griffith, Josh Sweat, Chance Sweat and J.D. Sweat.
