Vera "Gi-Gi" Stewart

Vera "Gi-Gi" Stewart, 88, of Gainesville, GA passed away peacefully on Friday, April 15, 2016 following a sudden illness.
She was born February 13, 1928 in Iowa Falls, Iowa. She was the youngest of three born to Charles and Stella Dean. She married her high school sweetheart, Leonard J. Stewart on October 26, 1947. As a young married couple they moved from Iowa to Whittier, CA and raised their family. In 1991,Vera and Leonard retired in Gainesville, GA.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She loved to laugh and loved people. She was a long time member of McEver Road United Methodist Church where she served in many ways. She also served alongside her husband, Leonard through Meals on Wheels.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Stella Dean; brother and sister-in-law, Clarence and Lavon Dean; and sister and brother-in-law, Beatrice and Robert McLaren.
Surviving family members include her loving husband, Leonard J. Stewart; sons and daughters-in-law, Ronald and Mary Stewart, Michael and Suanne Stewart; daughter, Sandra Collins; grandsons, Wes (and Laura) Stewart; Nathaniel (and Lauren) Kay; Jeremiah Kay; Anthony (and Jamie) Massaro; Jeff Massaro; granddaughters, Charity (and Mike) Tackett; Carley (and Kevin) Westerberg; Kelly (and Blake) Light; Lisa (and Kai) Bassett; 26 great grandchildren, one great great grandchild on the way, and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
A private graveside service will be held for family only, and a Celebration of Life Service for friends and family is scheduled for 2 PM Tuesday, April 19, 2016 led by Rev. Rob Bruce at McEver Road United Methodist Church located at 3606 McEver Rd., Oakwood, GA 30566.
