Nancy Allen Sewell, age 88 of Demorest, Georgia went home to be with the Lord on Friday, April 15, 2016 following a period of declining health.
Born in Goldsboro, North Carolina on March 19, 1928, she was a daughter of the late Benjamin Harrison & Nancy Catherine Jones Allen. Mrs. Sewell was retired from Mountain Resources now known as Avita Community Partners after 21 years of service. She was a very active member of the Camp Creek Baptist Church, where in years past, she taught the Children’s Sunday School Class and was also a part of the bus ministry. Mrs. Sewell enjoyed time with her family and also traveling on day trips with the ladies group from church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee Sewell, grandson, Mitchell Maney, brothers, Simon & James Allen, sisters, Mary Ellen Means, Ercelle Reeves, & Hope Williams.
Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Lexine Sewell Maney, Lyn & James Ledford all of Demorest; Joy Sewell Willingham & Biff Willingham of Martin; son & daughter-in-law, Alvin D. & Bernie Sewell of Delta, CO; brother and sister-in-law, Dr. B.H. Allen, Jr. & Martha Allen of Hillsville, VA; 8 grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, other relatives, & a host of friends.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 19, 2016 from the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home with Dr. Bill Barrs officiating. Interment will follow in the Yonah Memorial Gardens with Rev. Keith Allison officiating at the graveside.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2 until 4 p.m. & 6 until 8 p.m. on Monday.
