Richard Emmett Blessing

Mr. Richard Emmett Blessing, age 75, of Jefferson, went home to be with his Lord Jesus Christ on Monday, April 11, 2016. Mr. Blessing was born in Fort McClellan, Alabama, a son to the late Rex Claude Blessing and the late Ruby Hughes Blessing. Mr. Blessing retired in 2003, moving to Jefferson, GA, after 31 years as Computer Operator, Building Management and Security for Hand Benefits and Trust Pension Actuaries in Houston, Texas. Mr. Blessing was a Veteran of the U.S. Army and was of the Baptist Faith. He loved fishing, camping and wildlife preservation. In addition to his parents, Mr. Blessing was preceded in death by his sister, Myrtle Jane Blessing and grandson, Joseph Isaac Blessing.

Survivors include his wife, Virginia Jones Blessing of Jefferson, sons, Carl Wayne Blessing of Jefferson, Jeffrey Dean Blessing and his wife, Tamara of Magnolia, TX; grandchildren, Kyle Blessing of Montgomery, TX, Avner Blessing and Dahlia Blessing of Magnolia, TX, sisters, Marie Dixon and her husband Steve of Gainesville, GA, Mary Payne of Flowery Branch; brothers, Leonard Blessing Sr. of Gainesville, GA, Ben Blessing and his wife Judith of Guatemala, Bill Blessing of Gainesville, GA and numerous Nieces, Nephews and Cousins also survive.

The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, April 16, 2016 at 2:00pm in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Home with Rev. Eric Shelton officiating. The burial will follow in the Barrow Memorial Gardens in Winder, GA. The visitation will be held on Friday evening, April 15, 2016, from 6-8pm at Evans Funeral Home.
