Mr. Harry Marshall Veatch, age 91, longtime resident of Gainesville, Georgia, passed away at his home surrounded by his family on Sunday, April 10, 2016.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 pm Wednesday, April 13, 2016 at Memorial Park North Riverside Chapel with interment to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Reverend Billy Blocker will officiate. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 pm Tuesday, April 12, 2016 at the funeral home.
Harry was born October 4, 1924 to the late John and Alma (Vance) Veatch in Hickman County, Kentucky. Harry married Bonnie Baker on January 18, 1946 in St. Louis, Missouri. Harry was working for Swift and company when he was transferred to the Gainesville, Georgia plant in 1951. After being transferred, Harry and Bonnie decided to make Gainesville their home with their children. After leaving Swift and Company, Harry worked for the Gainesville Cigarette Service for many years before retirement. Harry was a veteran of the United States Navy. Harry was a loving husband, father, and friend. He had been an active member of First Christian Church of Gainesville where he served as an elder of the church and as a member of the church choir.
Harry is preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie (Baker) Veatch and son, Marshall Veatch.
Harry is survived by his daughter, Marie Yvonne Clark; daughter-in-law, and husband, Pamela (Caudell Veatch) and Jerry Bean; his grandchildren, Rodney Veatch, Jon (Kelley) Clark, Kelly (Ashley) Maynor, Brooke (Jason) McCutcheon, Clinton veatch, Ashley (Ethan) Vandiver, 11 great-grandchildren and a loving extended family.
