Alexander Funeral Home of Cleveland announces the death of Mr. John Carlton McCoy, age 73 of Covington, formerly of Cleveland. Mr. McCoy passed away Friday, April 7, 2016 following a period of declining health. Carlton was born on September 7, 1942 to the late John McCoy and Lorene Harkins McCoy. Carlton moved to Purvis, Mississippi twenty five years ago to join his brother, Ken in building custom furniture. He was a quality craftsman as he designed many one of a kind pieces for “The Real McCoy” furniture store. He has just recently moved back to Georgia and will be remembered as a many who enjoyed the outdoors and loved his family. In addition to his parents, Carlton is preceded in death by his brother, Cecil McCoy and sister Barbara Loggins. Survivors include his wife, Pat McCoy of Covington, stepsons, Paul Roper (Karen) of Covington, Erin Roper and Malisa Metler of Covington, step grandchildren, Abigail, Allysa and Riley; sisters, Beverly Pitts ( Clinton), Cleveland, Doris Wilbanks ( Tony), Clermont; brother, Ken McCoy ( Jane) of Purvis ,Mississippi as well as a number of nieces and nephews. A memorial service is scheduled for 3:00pm, Saturday, April 16, 2016 in the chapel of Alexander Funeral Home. The family will receive guests beginning at 2:00p.
