Robert Blackwell Rouse, 73, of Gainesville, Ga. passed away Tuesday April 5, 2016 at the N.E. Ga. Medical Center in Gainesville, Ga. He was surrounded by his loving family and caring staff. "Bob" was born February 1, 1943, in Glade Spring, Va. to the late Vera Brewer Rouse and Isaac Blackwell "Bud" Rouse. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brothers - Steven Wayne Rouse of Venice, Fl. and James Paulser "Bud" Rouse of Arlington, Va.
Bob retired as a member of the U.S. Marine Corps after serving 22 years, including two tours in Vietnam. After his military retirement, he earned his B.S. degree in Business administration from Univ. of North Georgia. He recently retired from Sapa Extrusions Inc., Gainesville, Ga. Bob was an active member of Lakewood Baptist Church where he and Carolyn felt strong support from their "Doing More in Christ" Sunday school class.
Bob is survived by his wife of 53 years, Carolyn Norris Rouse, Son and daughter in law - Mark Allen and LaRan Rouse and their daughter Brynn of Cleveland, Son - Jeffery Blackwell Rouse and his son Brayden of Dahlonega. Also surviving are 3 sisters, Connie Tyson and her husband David of Spottsville, Va., Cathy Rouse and Judy Ormsbee both of Plant City, 2 brothers; Glen Edward Rouse of Conn. and Isaac Blackwell Rouse, III "I.B." and his wife Kathy of Bartow, Fl. He is also survived by extended families of the Rouse and Brewer families along with the families of Eula and Dennis Norris.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am Friday April 8, 2016 at the Little-Davenport Chapel. Dr. Tom Smiley and Dr. Jerry Gill will officiate. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm Thursday April 7, 2016 at Little-Davenport Funeral Home. A graveside service with Military Honors will be held Monday April 11, 2016 at 11 am in Glade Spring, Va. at the Mount Olivet Cemetery under the direction of Weaver's Funeral Home of Bristol, Tn. and the Bristol VFW providing the Military Honors.
