Bertie McDuffie Chaffin

Bertie McDuffie Chaffin, age 80, Baldwin, Georgia, passed away on Tuesday, April 5, 2016.

Mrs. Chaffin was born in Banks County on July 24, 1935 to the late Clarence and Helen Myers McDuffie. She was of the Baptist faith and was a retired nursing care assistant with The Oaks Scenic View Health Care with 21 ½  years of service. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Charles Chaffin; son, David Chaffin; daughter-in-law, Linda Williams Chaffin; brother, Howard McDuffie, and sister, Louise Parker.

She is survived by her daughter, Betty Ann Pitts of Calhoun Falls, SC; daughter, Janice Ledford and companion, Ira Smith of Baldwin; son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Shirley Chaffin of Cleveland; son and companion, Rick Chaffin and Terry Smith; son, Michael Chaffin; sisters, Leasie Whitmire of Mt. Airy, Ann Reems of Baldwin, Patsy Alexander of Toccoa; brother, Lonnie McDuffie of Cleveland; ten grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M., Thursday, April 7, 2016 at Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel with Rev. Austin Kelley and Pastor Scott Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the Baldwin City Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 5:00-8:00 P.M. on Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at the funeral home.
