Naomi Ruth Herrin Mitchell

Naomi Ruth Herrin Mitchell, age 85 of Cornelia, passed away on Monday, April 04, 2016 following an extended illness.

Born in Cornelia, Georgia on November 02, 1931, she was a daughter of the late John & Effie Watson Herrin. Mrs. Mitchell spent many years alongside her husband, Rev. Roy Lee Mitchell in the ministry. She was a loving wife, mother, & grandmother. Mrs. Mitchell enjoyed reading, traveling, collecting dolls & snow villages, and most of all, decorating her home for Christmas each year. She was a member of the Crossroads Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Steve Dyer as well as 3 brothers and 5 sisters.

Survivors include her loving husband of 64 years, Rev. Roy Lee Mitchell of Cornelia; children, Rickey & Melody Mitchell, Diane & Stacey Carpenter, Bobby & Kathy Mitchell all of Cornelia; brother and sister-in-law, Marshall & Caroline Herrin of Cornelia; ten grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, & friends.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 06, 2016 from the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart with the Rev. Ray Davis and Rev. Austin Kelley. Interment will follow in the Mud Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 until 8 p.m. on Tuesday.
