James Frank Bagwell, 80, a lifetime resident of Gainesville, Georgia, passed away Monday, March 28, 2016 at Lanier Village Estates in Gainesville.
Celebration of Life services will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at First Baptist Church of Gainesville. Reverend’s Bruce Fields, Richard Evans and T. Richard Davis will officiate. Interment will be in Alta Vista Cemetery.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Harry Frank Bagwell and Grace Buice Bagwell.
Jim was a member and deacon of First Baptist Church and past president of the Anglers Sunday School class. He graduated from Gainesville High School and Georgia Institute of Technology, where he was a member of the Alpha Sigma Chapter of Kappa Alpha Fraternity, and served on Honor Court for several years. He was past president of the Gainesville Rotary Club, in which he was honored as a Will Watt Fellow, Paul Harris Fellow and a Hue Thomas Fellow. He served on the Board of Southern Seminary, Board of Truett – McConnell College and the Board of Shorter College. Jim was also a member of the Chattahoochee Country Club. He served in the United States Army Reserve for six years.
After graduating from college, Jim began his career with the family business, Georgia Chair Company, which was honored as a hundred year old, third generation company.
Jim is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Lucille McCrary Bagwell; his children, Harry Franklin Bagwell, II (Carolyn); and Lucille Elisabeth Bagwell Bishop (Wesley); grandchildren, Susanne Emmert Bagwell, James Franklin Bagwell, II, Jackson Williams Bishop and Ashleigh Lucille Fenn Bishop. He is also survived by his sister, Betty Sue Bagwell Everett (Charles) of Anniston, AL; their children, Mark (Bridgett), Mickael (Becky) Everett, and Matthew (Kristi) Everett and their 10 Grandchildren; his sister, Sally Bagwell Higgins (Don), their children include Amy Higgins Hulsey (Keith), D. Aubrey Higgins, II (Sarah) and Hal Franklin Higgins (Jessica) and their five grandchildren
